A Sad Day: Vince Flynn Dies at 47

VinceFlynnByPhilKonstantinIt saddened me to learn that one of my favorite authors died yesterday. Vince Flynn, the author of Kill Shot, Last Man and American Assassin, died at the young age of 47 of prostate cancer. He left behind his wife, Lysa, and their three children.

I picked up Flynn’s American Assassin, thinking my husband would like it in my efforts to get him to read more (one of the crutches my husband must endure being married to an editor). And after he sang its praises, I gave it a read if only to appease him. It was a political thriller and I honestly didn’t think I would like it. The genre involved politics… need I say more? Haha! I loved it and quickly added the book and Flynn to my list of favorites. I was also excited to learn that American Assassin is being made into a movie with Bruce Willis.

Vince Flynn will be missed by this reader, and I’d like to convey my heartfelt sorrow for his family for the lost of their father, husband, lover, and friend.

  1. I first settled on the political thriller genre with the Jack Ryan series by Tom Clancy. A few years later I read a dust cover of one of Vince Flynn books and knew the Mitch Rapped series was my best choice. I have read about half of the series, wanting to save some for later since I knew Mr. Rapped was sick. I hats to hear of his passing.
